Essential fatty acids. The term “essential fatty acids” signifies a group of chemical compounds needed for human life. Similar to some vitamins, they are not produced in sufficient quantities by the human body and need to be obtained through various dietary sources. When it comes to eye health and vision, several essential fatty acids are of main importance: omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids.
