Exercises for Better Vision – Balance and Coordination Exercises

exercises for better visionYour vision is not only important for seeing the world around you but for helping your body to maintain proper balance and coordination. Many eyesight disorders lead to poor eye-hand coordination and even to balance problems.

The following exercises for better vision are designed to help you improve your eye-hand coordination and your overall balance skills.

The Stork Exercise

1. Stand with your legs hip width apart and your hands on your hips.
2. Slowly lift your right leg up and bend it in the knee. Your upper leg should be parallel to the ground and form 90 degree angle with your hips and there should be 90 degree bend in the knee.
3. Remain in this position for about 5 seconds and slowly put back your leg on the ground.
4. Repeat with the other leg.

Hand to Ankle Exercise

1. Stand with your legs hip width apart. Your hands should rest on both sides of your body.
2. Bend your right leg backwards until your lower leg is parallel to the ground. At the same time reach back with your left hand and grab your ankle.
3. Hold the position for 10 seconds and return in initial standing position.
4. Repeat with the other leg and hand.

Leg Slide Exercise

1. Stand directly behind a chair or a table with your legs hip width apart.
2. Holding the table for extra balance, slowly slide your right leg sidewards until it is 10 inches away from your body. Hold the position for 5 seconds and return in initial position.
3. Repeat with the other leg.

The above exercises for better vision are not only great for improving your eye-hand coordination and your balance skills, but are a great way to relax after a busy day. You can do all of these exercises for better vision or a combination of those that you like the most. Regardless of the exercises you will chose to do on a regular basis, it is very important to do them slowly and to try to maintain correct body posture throughout each exercise. Remember to breathe deeply and regularly too.
